I don’t dislike writing I dislike sharing my writing. This makes it hard
for me to get into writing assignments because I feel a lot of pressure to
write something that I am comfortable sharing with my peers. For some reason I
would rather present my work verbally than to let my classmates read it. I
don’t mind sharing my writing with a professor because I feel as though they
are reading it with the intent to help students improve, or at least that’s
what their intent should be.
With this class I am looking forward to growing into a better writer,
but to also grow to enjoy sharing my work. I believe taking pride in
sharing your work with others comes from confidence of knowing you are a decent
writer. Or at least confidence in the fact that you do not care what others may
like or dislike about what you have to say.
When it comes to what type of writing I enjoy the
most I definitely enjoy writing for work rather than creativity. I have never
been the type of person to just sit down and write. When I interned in the
University Relations department last semester I was assigned some press
releases. I enjoyed the interviewing and research that went into writing them.
I liked the personal contact I got to have with people. I think this is the
case because I was reporting fact, not coming up with my own ideas and sharing
them. The reporting aspect makes me confident in the fact that people are
reading my story to get information, not to judge my opinion on a certain
topic.
